Job Description
Strategic Leadership: Drive end-to-end communications strategy from development through launch and beyond, managing messaging, campaigns, and issues management. Hands-On Media Relations: Personally pitch and secure coverage across trade, business, and entertainment media. Leverage an existing, deep network of press relationships to shape narratives from day one. Creative Campaigning: Craft compelling brand narratives and pitches that help titles cut through the cultural noise; identify non-traditional story angles via social, fandom, and cultural moments. Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with creative executives, production, marketing, and legal teams to shape long-term strategy and provide expert counsel. Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage brand and communications risks, including sensitive reactive situations (cancellations, HR issues, controversial content), with sound judgment under pressure. Executive & Talent Management: Secure and coordinate executive, creator, and talent interviews, press tours, panels, and speaking opportunities. 10+ years of experience in communications at an agency, studio, or network, ideally within entertainment or media. Proven track record leading proactive and reactive communications strategy for scripted television, film, or comparable premium content. Demonstrated success building multi-title, “slate” or franchise-level narratives — not just single-title campaigns — that tie to broader cultural, economic, or industry storylines. Deep, established, and active relationships across trade, business, entertainment, consumer, and new, emerging media. A proven, personal track record of pitching, securing, and shaping press coverage. Skilled storyteller who can distill complex or sensitive situations into clear, compelling narratives and effective press pitches. Sound judgment on brand and communications risk; steady under pressure and comfortable navigating ambiguity. Strong cross-functional collaborator who partners well with creative, legal, marketing, and publicity teams. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, meticulous organization, and the ability to manage a high volume of complex, concurrent projects. A curious, ambitious self-starter with a genuine point of view on what defines culture.
