Job Description
Debug complex issues across Python applications, frameworks, dependencies, CI/CD, runtime environments, and platform integrations. Build tooling, automation, and diagnostics that make problems easier to prevent and resolve. Turn recurring developer pain points into improvements in tooling, documentation, workflows, and platform capabilities. Partner with Python Platform and other engineering teams to solve problems that cross system boundaries. Demonstrated software engineering experience building, debugging, or operating production systems. Proficiency in Python, with a track record of debugging and contributing to production code, libraries, or frameworks. Understanding of Python packaging and dependency management, including tools and concepts such as pip, pyproject.toml, virtual environments, and wheels. Experience with Python frameworks and development tooling such as FastAPI, Flask Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and agentic tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) to troubleshoot, automate, and accelerate engineering work. Experience debugging unfamiliar codebases and diagnosing issues across multiple layers of a system, including dependencies, build and CI/CD systems, runtime performance, concurrency or async I/O, distributed systems, or service-to-service integrations. Ability to read and reason about framework and library internals when application-level debugging is not sufficient. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous technical problems and drive them toward resolution. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to explain technical issues to engineers with different areas of expertise. Interest in improving developer productivity and making engineering workflows more effective at scale. Platform engineering, developer productivity, or internal tooling. SRE, resilience engineering, fault injection, chaos testing, or progressive delivery. Large-scale AWS or Kubernetes environments. JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or debugging systems that span multiple technology stacks.
